SAFETY
The
Civilian Marksmanship Program is dedicated to the respect for and safe
handling of firearms, instilling patriotism and discipline in our youth
participants. The CMP provides its constituents with the highest
level of instruction in the proper control of firearms by highly-skilled
coaches and veteran range safety officers in the classroom, at our
ranges and wherever the CMP banner is displayed.

Shooters, including aspiring new shooters are invited to take advantage
of a new opportunity to do practice shooting. Both ranges consist of
80-point, 10-meter air gun range and are fully equipped with electronic
targets that accommodate air rifle, air pistol or National Match Air
Rifle shooting. Instruction and equipment are also available. Visit

University of Akron Wins Ohio U.S. Army ROTC Postal Match

University of Akron team members were presented an award by CMP Board member Bill Willoughby. |
Four Army ROTC units from Ohio universities competed in the 2014 U.S. Army ROTC Postal Match, Dec. 1, 2013 through March 14, 2014. Competitors fired sporter rifles on CMP supplied targets and mailed in their results to Headquarters for scoring.
Members of the University of Akron team dominated the match, finishing consecutively in the top 5 places.
Brian Bursley led the 3x10 match with his score of 250-2x, followed by Benjamin Spacek with 241-4x for second and Zachary Gould with a score of 240-4x for third. Team members Braden Farley and Thomas Dixon finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The University of Akron finished in first place with a combined team score of 970-13x. Bowling Green State University fired an aggregate score of 839-3x for second, while the University of Toledo tallied a score of 818-8x for third. John Carroll University also competed in the match, ending with an aggregate score of 731-3x.
