CAMP PERRY, OHIO – Cpl Peyton Hebert, USMC, Quantico, Virginia fired an aggregate score of 385-3X to win the 2011 CMP Service Pistol Warm-Up Match here on Tuesday, 12 July. Cpl Hebert fired a 190-1X in slow-fire, 97-1X in timed-fire and 98-1X in rapid-fire.
The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit captured the next four places with SSG Adam Sokolowski second with an aggregate of 384-11X and SSG Lyman Grover tied for third but losing to Sokolowski on an X-count tiebreaker, 384-9X.
SFC James Henderson followed in fourth place, firing a 383-15X and SPC Sean Ragay captured fifth place with an aggregate of 377-10X.
The Warm-Up match, which was introduced in 2009 offers pistol shooters an opportunity to gain more experience with their service pistols, and fire them in a major competition. The match also gives many National Trophy Pistol competitors a chance to fine tune for the Trophy Matches at the end of the week. SFC Henderson holds the record in the match, set in its first year (392-15X).
The course of fire is the President’s Pistol Match Course which is 50 yards, slow fire with two series of 10 shots in 10 minutes each followed by two timed-fire series of five shots each at 25 yards in a time limit of 20 seconds per series. The final rapid fire stage is also shot in two strings of five shots with a time limit of 10 seconds each.
This year’s match was fired by 313 competitors. For complete results of the 2011 CMP Service Pistol Warm-Up Match, log onto
