After winning last years National Trophy Individual Match, SFC Norman Anderson of the Army Marksmanship Unit got off to a great start this year by winning the President’s 100. SFC Anderson finished with 297-17x to win his first President’s Rifle Match in his 13th summer with the AMU. “I’ve come in second before, but I’ve never won. I’m really excited to finally win the President’s,” said SFC Anderson.
The top junior of the day was Jake Quamme from Goodyear, AZ who tied with James Fox from, White City, OR at 294-11x. Quamme won by having the highest 600 yard stage score, beating Fox 98-5x to 96-2x. Fox jumped out into the lead pack early and was in contention to become the second junior in a row to win the President’s but fell behind in the 600 yard stage. The cutoff for the 2005 President’s 100 was a 287-3x.

Participation was the second highest it has ever been for the President’s 100 with 1287 competitors. 46 different states were represented as well as three counties with teams from Canada and Australia joining the U.S. competitors.
