Team Remington provides instruction for Advanced Highpower Clinic at Camp Perry
By Steve Cooper, CMP Writer
CAMP PERRY, OHIO – The Advanced Remington-Bushmaster Highpower Clinic, led by retired U.S. Marine Ken Roxburgh and his team of top shooters from Remington-Bushmaster, provided expert service rifle marksmanship instruction and competition techniques to more than 60 shooters during this year’s National Matches.
Over 60 students participated in the Advanced Remington Highpower Clinic. All participants received two and half days of instruction, handouts, clinic t-shirt and clinic certificate.
The clinic parallels the USMC Junior Service Rifle Clinic that’s offered to younger competitors but delves into much greater detail. A team of expert service rifle shooters and coaches that comprise the Remington-Bushmaster Team joined Roxburgh in classroom instruction and on the range for a full day of practical application using dry-firing and drills.
“It was an outstanding experience,” said Ed Harrison, 61, of Newton Falls, Ohio. “The course took me much deeper into the discipline of highpower shooting than I had ever been before.”
Remington provided seven expert Highpower instructors to conduct the CMP/Remington Advanced Clinic at Camp Perry during the National Matches. Remington also instructs the Highpower Clinics at the Eastern & Western Creedmoor Cup Matches.
The clinic concludes with an expert shooter panel discussion on Sunday morning and an opportunity to participate in the squadded practice on Rodriguez Range at Camp Perry.
Roxburgh is a former Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the USMC Shooting Teams and he currently serves as Director of Remington’s Highpower Programs. Roxburgh’s no-nonsense, Marine Corps-inspired teaching kept students on their toes, but each walked away with some of the finest competitive service rifle tools available to the civilian shooting community.

A Remington instructor works with a clinic student during the dry firing portion of the Advanced Highpower Clinic. There is no live firing in the clinic but students snap in and dry fire in each shooting position.
