Magruder Hospital and CMP Partner for a Unique Fundraiser
|
Magruder Hospital and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) have teamed up to put on the 1st Annual Charity Shoot on Saturday, November 12th at the CMP Marksmanship Center building 5042 at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio. All proceeds will benefit Magruder Hospital.
“Earlier this year, the discussion came up that this would be a great idea for a fundraiser. It would be something different for Magruder and would give great exposure to the CMP. So, we approached the CMP with the idea,” said Mike Long, President & CEO of Magruder.
And according to Shannon Hand, CMP North Competitions Manager, the idea was appealing from the very start.
“Having the chance to showcase the CMP Marksmanship Center to the community is a great opportunity for us. I think a lot of people aren’t aware of what an amazing center we really have here. Recently it was chosen as a site to host the Olympic trials for 2012 along with our other facility in Anniston, Alabama.”
In addition to the air rifle range, guests will be given an opportunity to experience another feature of the center.
“The Ohio Army National Guard will open its Joint Training Center which includes the Engagement Skills Trainer. This has only been open to the public one other time, so it is a great opportunity to see the center,” says Shannon Hand, CMP North Competitions Manager.
In the training center there will be a simulated turkey shoot and on the air rifle side there will be chances to win prizes.
“We will be giving away 20 turkeys to people who win some of the competitive shooting contests on the air rifle range side and there will be hors d oeuvres served by Magruder’s Fulton Street Cafe,” says Rachel Fall, Magruder’s Manager of Business Development. “It’s going to be a fun event and children 10 & up are welcome.”
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the CMP Headquarters Bldg. 3, CMP North Store Bldg. 2500, the Magruder Gift Shop and Mary’s Blossom Shoppe. There will be tickets available the day of the event, but numbers will be limited. Please call 419-732-4061 with any questions.
