2010-2011 JROTC Air Rifle Postal Competition Now Open for Registration.  The 2010-2011 JROTC three-position air rifle competition program starts in September with Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force postal competitions. All JROTC units that offer rifle marksmanship training for their cadets are encouraged to shoot in these popular matches. Indeed, a major objective this year is to increase participation by JROTC units and individual cadets. All firers in the open postal competitions will fire a 3x10 air rifle course of fire. Air Rifle and Air Pistol Marksmanship Competitions - Camp Perry, Ohio and Anniston, Alabama.  The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you and your club rifle team to participate in the CMP’s Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the above dates at the CMP’s Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20, 60 Shots Air Rifle Standing, 60 Shots Air Pistol, a 20 shot Novice Prone stage a National Match Air Rifle 20 Shot Standing, Garand Course and 3x20 events.  Monthly Match Date is 20 November.  Visit http://www.odcmp.com/

 Dixie Double, Anniston, AL.  The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you to participate in its second annual Anniston Marksmanship Center Dixie Double. This match offers 60-shot international air rifle standing and 60-shot air pistol events for open men and women and junior men and women. USA Shooting is sanctioning this match as a PSA/PSI match sanctions; it is also sanctioned as a PTO.  Members of the National Rifle and Pistol Teams will attend.  National Rifle Coach David Johnson will present a coaching clinic for all interested persons on Saturday afternoon, 13 November.  The match is a two-day event where competitors will fire one 60-shot event on each of two days, 13 & 14 November 2010.   Visit http://www.odcmp.com/3P/

Krupp Wins CMP Western Games John C. Garand Match as Rutherford Wins Springfield and Vintage Matches

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – Maury Krupp, 57, of Tucson, Arizona, won the John C. Garand Match, firing an aggregate score of 293-6X. As a result of his first place finish, Krupp took home a CMP Match Winner engraved plaque and a Fancy Grade M1 rifle stock donated by Dupage Trading Company of Chandler, Arizona.

Krupp fired a 98-3X in prone slow, a 99-1X in prone rapid and an impressive 96-2X in standing slow-fire.
 

William Aten of Kingwood, Texas, placed second in the Springfield match in a tie-breaker over Arland Anderson. Aten is congratulated by CMP Chief Operating Officer Orest Michaels during a medal presentation.

 

William Aten, 58, of Kingwood, Texas, finished in second place, six points back with an aggregate score of 287-7X in a tiebreaker over third place finisher Arland Anderson, 60, of Las Vegas, Nevada. With one more center-X than Anderson, Aten stayed close to Krupp through the prone series, shooting 98-3X and 98-4X and finished with a 91-0X in standing to clinch second and a gold achievement medal.

Arland Anderson, the High Senior in the Garand Match, fired a 99-4X, 95-1X and 93-1X to finish with 287-6X. He was awarded a CMP High Senior plaque and a new Criterion M1 Garand rifle barrel, compliments of Criterion Barrels, Inc. of Richfield, Wisconsin.

Evan Hawksley was the High Junior shooter in the John C. Garand Match. The 15-year-old from Palmdale, California scored a 253-2X aggregate.


LTC Barry Bean, USMCR, 56, of Vista, California, was the High Handicap winner with an aggregate score of 275-10X and Evan Hawksley, 15, of Palmdale, California, was the High Junior in the John C. Garand Match, compiling an aggregate score of 253-2X. LTC Bean received a High Handicap plaque and Hawksley was awarded a CMP High Junior certificate.

Glendale “Don” Rutherford, 58, Tallapoosa, Georgia, winner of the overall GSM 3-Gun Match, placed first in the Springfield and Vintage Military rifle matches with aggregate scores of 289-11X and 292-9X, respectively.

Rutherford received a CMP Match Winner plaque for each event plus he was awarded a Fancy Grade Springfield A3 rifle stock from the Dupage Trading Company for being an overall two-event winner.
 

Michael Miller finished third and was the High Senior shooter in the Springfield match, firing a 282-10X. Miller also took home a Criterion M1 Garand rifle barrel and an engraved CMP plaque for his efforts as High Senior. Miller also finished third in the overall GSM 3-Gun Aggregate.


John C. Garand Match winner Maury Krupp placed second behind Rutherford in the Springfield Match, firing 98-3X, 96-2X, and 89-0X for a 283-5X aggregate. Michael Miller, 63, of Downey, California, finished third and was the High Senior shooter in the match, firing a 282-10X. Miller took home a Criterion M1Garand rifle barrel and an engraved CMP plaque for his efforts as High Senior. Chief Rick Jones (USN) 52, of Auburn, California, was the high handicap winner of the Springfield Match, firing a 254-3X and was awarded an engraved CMP plaque.
 

Bill Poole, of Scottsdale, Arizona placed second in the Vintage Military rifle match and second overall in the GSM 3-Gun Aggregate.

High Handicap winner Fritz Reuter, 68, of Mesa, Arizona, was awarded a CMP plaque for greatest improvement over his baseline handicap in the Vintage Military match.
