Ronald Doggett Wins 40-Shot, As-Issued 1911 and EIC Pistol Matches at CMP Games - Oklahoma

ARCADIA, Oklahoma – Ronald Doggett, 52, of Oklahoma City, swept three out of four individual pistol matches at the 2013 CMP Games – Oklahoma and placed third in a fourth match. Doggett also led his two-man pistol team to victory in the matches that were held at the Oklahoma City Gun Club pistol range.

It was the second year for CMP pistol competitions as part of its regional games matches. Fellow Oklahoma pistol shooter Charles Abston, who won a pair of matches in 2012, stepped aside and served as the pistol match chief range officer this year.

Doggett won the 40-Shot Pistol Match with an aggregate score of 358-6X, topping Richard Chadwick, 60, of Davis, OK, who fired a 355-11X. Richard Wise, 56, of Yukon, OK, placed third with a total score of 346-4X out of 15 competitors in the match.

New for the 2013 Oklahoma and CMP Eastern Games are the CMP As-Issued 1911 and CMP Military & Police Service Pistol Matches. The CMP As-Issued 1911 match requires a U.S. Armed Forces issue M1911 or 1911A1 caliber .45 ACP pistol or a commercial pistol of the same type and caliber, with standard grips and non-adjustable sights. Both matches are fired at 25 yards on the standard NRA B-8 25-yard target.

Doggett placed first in the CMP As-Issued 1911 match with an aggregate score of 372-6X. He fired a 95-1X in slow fire, 86-2X in timed fire, left-handed, 96-1X in timed fire, right-handed and 95-2X in rapid fire.

Jack Oak, 74, of Oklahoma City, placed second in the 1911 match, scoring an aggregate of 353-7X and Charles Meloy, 74, of Noble, OK, placed third with a combined score of 327-5X. Ten competitors fired the as-issued 1911 match.
Kent Stonecipher, of Ada, Oklahoma, captured the new Military & Police Service Pistol Match with an aggregate score of 371-8X. Stonecipher was presented his winning plaque from the CMP’s Leon Rutherford.

The M&P Service Pistol match is fired with semi-auto pistols practical for either military or police use. Caliber must be a minimum of 9mm and maximum of .45 caliber, five-inch barrel or less and have non-adjustable sights and may not be match conditioned.

Hubert Denson, 70, of San Antonio, TX, placed second with a total score of 367-9X and Doggett placed third with a 364-9X, out of 25 competitors.

Doggett’s pistol trifecta was completed with a first place overall finish in the EIC Service Pistol Match, fired by 34 shooters. He fired a 267-7X in the Pistol National Match Course.

The course of fire includes no sighters, 10 shots slow-fire at 50 yards (10 minutes), 10 shots timed-fire at 25 yards (two strings of five, 20 seconds each) and 10 shots rapid-fire at 25 yards (two strings of five, 10 seconds each) with a one-handed hold.

Richard Chadwick placed second overall in the match with a 264-3X aggregate and Denson placed third overall with a combined score of 260-3X.
Christopher Miceli, 26, of Anchorage, AK, was the high non-Distinguished competitor in the EIC Service Pistol Match with a 250-4X. Miceli earned eight leg points toward his Distinguished Pistol badge. The CMP’s Dick Whiting presented Miceli with this EIC Pistol regional match ribbon.

Kenneth Smart, 63, of Bethany, OK, was the second highest non-Distinguished shooter, finishing with a 238-4X and Stephen Benton, 69, of Springfield, MO, was third in that group, firing a 237-2X. Smart and Benton each earned six EIC points in the match toward their Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge.

In a two-squad field in team competition, Doggett and Smart placed first with a team aggregate score of 523-10X. Doggett led with a 281-7X and Smart fired a 242-3X. Richard Wise and Charles Meloy fired a team total of 511-6X.

The same pistol match format will be fired at the CMP Eastern Games at Camp Butner, North Carolina in May.
