CMP Seeks Volunteer Coaches for New CMP Camp Rifle Programs

The CMP is looking for a group of experienced position rifle coaches who are interested in serving as volunteer members of the instructional staff for two unique new CMP summer shooting camps at Camp Perry. The CMP will conduct three weeks of special position air rifle camps at Camp Perry and needs additional coaches on 12-16 June for a Navy JROTC camp and on 19-24 June for a national Sea Cadets camp. Most camp attendees will be relatively new to target shooting so the camps will be a great opportunity to get new groups of youth and their adult leaders properly introduced to the shooting sports.

The CMP needs experienced adult leaders who can work during the camps as shooting coaches for small groups of three to five new shooters and who can assist in supervising live fire activities. These CMP Camp Rifle Coaches will be trained and gain considerable experience in teaching a new Basic Rifle Marksmanship Course, originally developed by the CMP for the Army and Navy JROTC Commands.

Anyone interested in serving as a CMP Camp Rifle Coach at either the 12-16 June or 19-24 June camp is invited to contact Kathy Williams at 419-635-2141, ext. 1109 or kwilliams@odcmp.com. She will forward an application form that asks for information about your marksmanship training and coaching credentials and experience. Interested individuals are urged to contact CMP and submit applications as soon as possible so that selections can be made and arrangements for participation in the camps can be completed.

Individuals selected to serve as CMP Camp Rifle Coaches will be provided with housing, per diem to cover meals and travel expenses with reimbursement by the CMP. Coaches who volunteer to work this program will also have a great opportunity to learn how to teach a new rifle marksmanship instructional curriculum and have a great experience in teaching shooting sports skills to an enthusiastic group of young and new shooters.
